About Exploration Acres
Exploration Acres sits on a Tippecanoe County farm that Lewis and Hazel Beeler started in the early 1920s, raising livestock and grain through the Depression. When the old barns began to fall apart, family members decided in 2006 to open the farm to the public to save them, spent two years fixing them up, and opened in 2008 with a 15-acre corn maze. Today it is owned by Tim Fitzgerald and Mary Branstetter, children of Lewis and Donna Beeler.
The fall season is the big one. In 2026 it runs September 18 through November 1, with a 22-acre corn maze holding four separate mazes and about 10 miles of paths. The pumpkin patch covers more than 11 acres with over 38 varieties, sold by the pound. Hayrides, fire pits, kid activities and photo spots fill out a visit, and the hours stretch into the evening for maze walks after dark.
Spring brings a different farm: about 400,000 tulips and 25,000 daffodils bloom across roughly four acres in April and May, and in August there are sunflower fields with a U-cut patch. The restored barn is rented for parties, meetings and weddings.
Lavender Bee Company, a Lafayette family business, sells its raw honey and lavender goods online with local delivery around Lafayette rather than through farm visits.
