About People's Brewing Company
People's Brewing Company fired up its 20-barrel brewhouse on Thanksgiving Day 2009 on Lafayette's north side. It added fermentors and a bottling line in 2011 and canning in 2013, and its beer is now sold across much of northern Indiana. The range covers American ales, German lagers, Belgian ales and English ales, with year-round, seasonal and specialty releases. Familiar names include Farmer's Daughter Wheat Ale, People's Pilsner, People's IPA and Mr. Brown Imperial Ale.
The taproom and patio are open every day, with a kitchen that closes 30 minutes before the bar. Under-21 guests are welcome with an adult to eat, which makes it a workable stop for a mixed group. Tuesday nights and other shows are 21 and over unless advertised otherwise, and the brewery runs a regular live music program.
Brewery tours are by appointment on weekdays between 5 and 6 p.m. with a staff member, priced at $60 for up to five people with a sample set for each, and $12 for each extra guest. Weekend tours depend on staffing. Kegs are sold for parties, though not on Sundays under Indiana law.
