About Kent's Cucurbits
Kent's Cucurbits is a fall pumpkin farm on State Road 18 east of Brookston, north of Lafayette. The Kent family has farmed in the Brookston area for more than 150 years and still raises corn, soybeans and wheat; the pumpkin business was added to help families celebrate the fall harvest, and 2026 is its 35th season. The farm has grown a record pumpkin of 1,360 pounds.
The season runs from September 12 through October 31, with mums ready the first weekend of September. The farm is closed Mondays, open Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 6, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 7. Pumpkins are already picked and laid out for choosing, in sizes from 1 to 200 pounds, alongside stacking squash, gourds, Indian corn, more than 1,000 mums, decorative sunflowers, corn shocks and straw bales.
There is no admission fee to shop. The 3 to 4 acre corn maze is $6 a person, and so is the Pumpkin Vine Express, a barrel train that loops around the farm. Kids can also try the apple cannons. It is an easy stop for a family photo among the pumpkin piles and for loading up the car with fall decorations.
Lavender Bee Company, the nearest lavender business, is based near Lafayette, about 30 minutes south; it sells honey and lavender goods online with local delivery rather than through farm visits.
