About Galice Resort
Galice Resort sits on the Rogue River about 20 minutes west of Grants Pass, and the Thomason family has owned and run it for more than 42 years, with a fourth generation now involved. It is a base for rafting, kayaking, fishing, swimming and riverbank walks, with a private boat ramp below the restaurant and a store that sells Rogue River maps and guidebooks showing the rapids. Daily river flow and water temperature are posted inside the store.
The main season runs from May 18 through September 29, when the resort is open Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 6 pm and Friday through Sunday from 7 am to 9 pm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, food trucks serve from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm and live music plays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm; the 2026 food and music schedule is posted on their website. Rafting trips, kayaks, equipment rentals and shuttles are offered, and the stretch from Galice down to Foster Bar is about 44 miles by the standard road route for shuttles.
Lodging is open year-round. Three lodge-style houses suit families and groups, with decks, barbecue areas, hot tubs, woodstoves or fireplaces and Wi-Fi. Smaller options include four cabins, a two-room bunkhouse, a river overlook cottage and a guest house, each with a full bathroom and a kitchenette or cook nook. Bring cash or plan ahead: the nearest ATM is at a small grocery in Merlin.
Kingfisher Farms, with about 21 lavender varieties and cut-your-own lavender on Applegate Road, is roughly 50 minutes away through Grants Pass, so a summer river stay can include a lavender morning.
