About Heap's Giant Pumpkin Farm
Heap's Giant Pumpkin Farm grows on land the Heap family has worked since Abel and Elizabeth Heap set up a homestead at US 52 and Grove Road in the 1860s. Kevin Heap started growing pumpkins in his backyard and opened the farm's pumpkin business as a small front-yard stand in 2001. Today Kevin and Kaylee run it as the sixth generation, with Gary at the grill and Linda's craft shop on site. It is a working corn, soybean and pumpkin farm, and the family stresses there are no carnival rides.
U-pick sunflowers, flowers and mums start September 5, 2026. The farm opens daily September 13 through October 31, 10 to 6:30, and the 25-acre pumpkin patch opens September 19. Hayrides run on weekends, Columbus Day and October Fridays. The Illinois Giant Pumpkin Association weigh-off is held here in late September. Evenings in October bring a Flashlight Maze, Moonlight Hayrides and a separate Haunted Corn Maze.
Daytime admission in 2026 is $14 on Fridays and weekends and $9 Monday through Thursday, with ages 2 and under free. Weekend tickets cover the animals, corn and bean mazes, Milo's Castle and Pirate Ship playground, a straw barn, the Giant Farm Slide and hayrides; pumpkins cost extra. Heap's Home Cookin' serves pork and beef burgers, pumpkin cookies and apple cider donuts on weekends. Birthday parties, school field trips and group tours are offered.
Nettle Creek Lavender Farm, west of Morris, is about 13 miles away, roughly a 22-minute drive. Visit its fields in early summer, then come back in fall for pumpkins.
