About The Kermandie Hotel
The Kermandie Hotel was built in 1932 at Port Huon, when this stretch of the Huon River was a busy port and boats loaded the valley's apples for export around the world. The hotel sits right by the water with its own marina, a fully restored bar, the Huon Lounge and an alfresco area.
The restaurant serves hearty classics built on local produce, with Huon Valley and Tasmanian wines, beers and ciders. Lunch runs Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 2 p.m., and dinner is served every day from 5 p.m.; the bar opens from noon on weekdays and from 8 a.m. on weekends. Tables can be booked through their website.
Upstairs, heritage rooms with en suites suit singles, couples and families, and the Kermandie Lodge next door adds queen and twin rooms and self-contained family units. Hotel guests get a continental breakfast in the Huon Lounge. Functions and weddings are also held here.
Campo de Flori at Glen Huon, a small lavender farm offering tours and wreath workshops by appointment, is about 20 minutes north via Huonville, so the Kermandie makes a good base or dinner stop after a farm visit.
