About Lawrence Orchards
Lawrence Orchards is a family-run orchard less than two miles south of Marion, on Smeltzer Road. The family has grown fruit here since 1921, and George Lawrence and his wife Vickie run it today. The orchard grows 26 apple varieties, and in season you can pick your own apples or buy them already picked at the farm market.
The market opens in June and stays open until Christmas, with seasonal fruit giving way to apples in late summer and fall. Shelves also hold jams and jellies, local honey and maple syrup, candies and fruit baskets. The orchard's cider is pressed on the farm with no preservatives; instead of being pasteurized it goes through an ultraviolet treatment, and it is sold in gallons and half gallons from September until Christmas Eve.
Fall is the busiest stretch. Harvest Saturdays run from the end of August to the end of October, and Applefest is held the last Saturday in September (September 26 in 2026). On October 31, 2026, Apple Butter and Horseradish Day invites visitors to help stir the kettle of apple butter, with free admission. A Christmas open house follows in late November. The orchard offers guided tours for school, homeschool and other groups, and its Cider House Pavilion can be rented from May through November.
Abundantly Blessed Farm near Bucyrus is about 17 miles to the northeast, roughly 30 minutes by car, for anyone combining an orchard stop with a lavender visit.
