About Levendárium

Levendárium is the Dörgicse Lavender Farm (Dörgicsei Levendula Major), a family business in the Balaton Uplands village of Dörgicse, near the ruined Saint Peter church. The family planted its first hectare of lavandin here in 2002, using plants that came from Pannonhalma Archabbey. The farm is certified organic and uses no chemical pesticides, fertilizers or herbicides. Its demonstration garden shows more than 30 lavender varieties next to traditional monastery-garden herbs.

Lavender blooms from mid-June to mid-August, with a smaller second flush in autumn. During the main season (June 13–August 30) the farm is open every day; in May it opens on weekends and in September and October on Saturdays. In 2026 the pick-your-own weekends fell on June 27–28 and July 4–5. Flowers go straight from the field into the farm's own steam stills, which also distill sage, rosemary and everlasting (helichrysum).

The organic shop and tea room has a shaded terrace serving tea, coffee and craft ice cream. On the shelves are essential oils, lavender and rose floral waters, massage oils, roll-on perfumes, bath salts, artisan syrups and lavender pillows filled with linen or spelt husks. The farm also hosts named open days, such as a Lavender Day in late June (last listed for June 22, 2024), and talks on organic gardening.

Dogs cannot go into the display garden, but they are welcome on the terrace, which has fresh water and shade. Tihany's Lavender House is about half an hour east by car.
