The Broken Arrow shop is one of three stores run by the Merritt family, who bought a tiny Tulsa cake shop called The Cake Box in September 1979. Cinnamon rolls, brownies and cookies came soon after, and in 1980 the family took over a donut shop and began frying donuts, which is how the business became Merritt's Bakery. This location sits on Kenosha Street right at the edge of Broken Arrow and the Union area of south Tulsa.
