About Mountain View Resort

Mountain View Resort is a cluster of eight housekeeping cabins on the shore of Lake Manitou on Manitoulin Island, looking across to the Cup and Saucer bluffs. It began as the Nighswander family farm, settled around 1877, and the first recorded guest stayed in 1895. Cabin 7 is the original farmhouse. Current hosts Rob and Leanne have run it since 2019 and live on site year-round.

Each cabin has a fridge, electric stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, four-piece bath, a barbecue and a picnic table, so you cook your own meals. There is a beach and fire pit area, and guests come to swim, boat and fish; bass and perch have drawn anglers here for more than a century. Cabin 8 is fully accessible, with a ramp, wide doorways and a large bathroom with grab bars.

Rates on their booking calendar started at about $210–230 CAD a night for fall 2026. In July and August some cabins, including 7 and 8, rent by the week only, Saturday to Saturday. Pets are welcome for an extra $20 a day or $100 a week. Check-in is 3 pm and check-out is 9 am.

Manitoulin Farmstead near Mindemoya is about 6 miles away, roughly 15 minutes, so a summer stay here puts you close to the island's lavender field for u-pick bouquets.
