About Pleasant Valley Blueberries
Pleasant Valley Blueberries is a small family farm run by Daniel and Sharde Dodd on Awhitu Gully Road at Wattle Bay, out on the quiet Āwhitu Peninsula about an hour's drive from central Auckland. It is a simple, unhurried place: rows of blueberry bushes, a shop counter, and a beach a short way down the road.
The pick-your-own season runs in late summer. In 2026 it opened on 24 January, and picking was charged at NZ$12 per kilo. The farm announces opening days closer to the season on its social pages, so check there before you make the drive, since the peninsula roads are long and winding. Eftpos is available.
Besides fresh berries, the farm sells real fruit blueberry ice cream, a good reward after picking on a warm day. The farm is set up for families and small groups but does not take buses. The nearby beach is good for a swim at high tide and a walk at low tide, and the owners suggest asking them about the tides before you head down.
The closest lavender stop is Leafy Hollow Botanicals in Waiuku, about 35 minutes south at the base of the peninsula. It opens for garden open days, tours and workshops rather than daily, so check their dates and plan the blueberries around them.
