Your first farm objective
- Step 1: choose Analyze address & soil and enter a permitted address, or use Pick for me for a private game-only estimate.
- Step 2: open the Soil tab and press Record soil test to save texture, pH and drainage as your field baseline.
- Finish both for +10 XP. The large learning panels then move into the compact Field Almanac.
What the Soil tab shows
- A suitability score (shown as Excellent above 84%, Workable above 65%, otherwise Needs improvement).
- Where the data comes from: a USDA mapped surface estimate for your address, or a game planning estimate.
- A Planning area menu: the whole mapped field or one tile.
- Gauges for estimated pH, estimated drainage and your measurement confidence.
- Short advice: pH below 6.5 or above 7.8 should be checked with a lab test; drainage under 70% is the priority.
The soil shed
| Input | Cost | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 🐚 Crushed oyster shell | 18 | Raises pH slowly |
| ⚪ Agricultural lime | 24 | Raises pH |
| 🟡 Elemental sulfur | 28 | Lowers pH gradually |
| ⛰️ Raised-row construction | 80 | Raises the crown zone, better drainage |
| 🧪 Soil test | 22 | Improves confidence; does not change chemistry |
How the shed works
- Buy adds one lot to your shed (+1 XP).
- Apply uses one lot on the selected tile, through the same rules as the Farm Map tools (a soil test must come first), at no extra charge.
- Game effects are kept small on purpose and are not real application rates.
