Lavender Sugar: The Easiest Way to Start Cooking with Lavender Save

If you have been curious about cooking with lavender but are not sure where to start, our Lavender Sugar is the friendliest first step. It is sweet with a delicate floral flavor, soft rather than soapy, and you can use it almost anywhere you would reach for regular sugar.

What makes it easy

Cooking with lavender buds takes a bit of measuring, because too much turns floral into perfume. Lavender sugar does that balancing for you. The flavor is already spread evenly through the sugar, so a spoonful adds a gentle note without taking over. It comes in an 8 oz size.

Ideas, from morning to dessert

When Try it
Breakfast Buttered toast, oatmeal, waffles or a bowl of strawberries
Coffee and tea Stirred into a latte, a mocha or a cup of black tea
Drinks A sugared rim on lemonade, mocktails or cocktails
Baking Sprinkled over sugar cookies, shortbread or scones before they go in the oven
Dessert Folded into whipped cream for pies, cocoa or fresh fruit

How to rim a glass

  1. Pour a thin layer of lavender sugar onto a small plate.
  2. Run a lemon wedge around the rim of the glass.
  3. Turn the glass upside down and dip it into the sugar, rotating gently.
  4. Fill carefully so the drink does not wash the rim away.

It makes a plain glass of lemonade look like you hired a bartender.

Baking with it

For a gentle lavender flavor in your own recipes, swap lavender sugar for some of the regular sugar and taste as you go. For a sparkly finish, sprinkle it on top of cookies, muffins or scones right before baking. Our lemon lavender scones and blueberry waffle recipes both put it to work.

Storing lavender sugar

Keep the container tightly closed in a cool, dry cupboard. If it clumps in humid weather, break it up with a fork or give it a quick shake. Always use a dry spoon.

Frequently asked questions

Will it make my coffee taste like soap?

Is it a good gift?
