About The Blue Pelican Inn & Restaurant

The Blue Pelican fills a stone hotel that three local masons built in 1924 on Main Street in Central Lake. It opened as the 22-room We-Go-Ta, popular with traveling salesmen, and over the decades became the Central Lake Hotel, The Palace, the Lamplight Inn and Murphy's Lamplight Inn. Chris and Merrie Corbett bought it in 2008, added a new kitchen and covered porch, remodeled the rooms, bar and dining room, and reopened the Side Door Saloon.

The restaurant serves American food, with salads, pasta, seafood, steaks and nightly specials, plus a full bar with a large wine list. Happy hour runs 4 to 5 Wednesday through Sunday. In season, the tiki deck hosts live music and events. As posted in fall 2026, dinner runs Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m., closing at 8 or 9, and the Side Door Saloon opens Thursday through Saturday from October 1.

Upstairs, seven decorated historic rooms (named for colors, plus the Pecos room) have pillow-top mattresses, private baths and WiFi, with a shared common area. Stay-and-dine and stay-and-golf packages are offered, and check-in is at 4 p.m.

Lavender Hill Farm near Boyne City is about 40 minutes northeast around Lake Charlevoix, so an overnight here can be paired with a day at the farm.
