About Lavender Hill Farm
Lavender Hill Farm has grown lavender on Horton Bay Road north of Boyne City since 2003. It is a 33-acre working farm of rolling hills with about 30 varieties of English lavender and lavandin, from the early, short Dwarf White to Purple Bouquet, the tallest of its English types. The farm is Certified Naturally Grown, MAEAP verified and pesticide-free.
Bloom starts in late June or early July and runs into mid-August, with peak color in July, when the fields stripe pink, white and purple. The farm suggests June for buds, July for peak color, with U-cut experiences starting after peak bloom, August for hand harvest and drying, September for cut flowers and pruning, and October for fall color. In 2026 the summer season opened May 6 and runs to late October, daily 10 AM to 5 PM (closed July 4). During those hours the fields, trails, labyrinth, fairy garden, events barn and boutique are free, and picnics are welcome.
The Farmhouse Boutique and The Copper Room tasting room stay open year-round; in October the boutique keeps 10 to 7 Monday through Saturday and 10 to 5 Sunday. The shop sells farm-made soaps, room spray, loose-leaf teas, essential oil, hydrosol and culinary lavender such as Hidcote, Melissa and Violet Intrigue. A restored century-old barn hosts The Series concerts in summer, and the calendar adds free Lavender Fest Fridays, movie nights, brunches, workshops, farm tours and the Lavender Hill Run. Most visitors stay from half an hour to four hours.
The 1876 Horton Bay General Store is about five minutes down the road for coffee, ice cream or a picnic box.
