About Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery

Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery is the work of Andy and Tracie Roush, who bought 22 acres a few miles east of downtown Petoskey in July 2012, started with 1,600 grapevines and opened the winery on June 21, 2014. The vineyard has grown to 11 acres, and the family has added apple trees and four lavender fields with nearly 3,500 plants, including Essence Purple and Grosso, which peak in July. Lavender from the farm is distilled on site into essential oil and hydrosol, and fresh and dried bundles and sachets are sold in the shop.

The tasting room pours estate wines such as Chardonnay, Late Harvest Riesling, Petoskey White and Petoskey Red, along with hard cider. Flights are three or five 2.5-ounce pours of wine, cider or both, and bottles and canned cider go home with you. The coffeehouse serves espresso drinks during tasting hours, including a flight of four seasonal lattes, and a wood-fired pizza truck runs Monday through Saturday from May through September.

In summer there are three outdoor patios looking over the vines and toward Little Traverse Bay; in fall the covered patios are heated, and winter moves indoors. Visits are walk-in only. Groups of seven or more should call ahead, the room holds parties of no more than 15, and Saturdays are busiest. Only service animals are allowed on the patios and in the tasting room, and outside food and drinks aren't permitted. Weekly farm tours are ticketed.

For a second lavender stop, Lavender Hill Farm near Boyne City is about 35 minutes southwest and open daily in season.
