About Coeur d'Alene Cellars

Coeur d'Alene Cellars was founded in 2002 by Kimber Travis, who once lived in Besançon, France, and drew on the wine traditions of nearby Burgundy when she started the winery. The list has included Viognier, Chardonnay and Merlot alongside house blends with names such as Opulence, Scarlet Lake and Mo, and the winery has ties to the local art scene, with art and private parties featured on its site.

In the tasting room you can try wines one at a time or as a flight, paired with a cheese board, a charcuterie plate or a truffle flight. You can also stay for a glass or a bottle, or buy bottles and cases to take home. In spring and fall the winery is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday from noon, with later closing on Fridays and Saturdays. Groups of six or more should call at least 24 hours ahead so an extra wine specialist can be on hand.

Local musicians play in the music alcove most Saturday afternoons, and there is no cover charge. The winery also runs wine club events and wine trips, and hosts private parties and weddings. It sits just north of I-90: from downtown, take Northwest Boulevard north across the freeway, turn right on Kathleen Avenue and then right again on Schreiber Way.

Lynn's Lavender in Sagle, the nearest lavender farm in our directory, is roughly 45 minutes north on US-95. We could not confirm its visiting days, so check with the farm before planning a summer lavender stop around a tasting here.
