About Cedar Mountain Farm Bed and Breakfast
Cedar Mountain Farm is a 440-acre family tree farm at the foot of Cedar Mountain, roughly midway between Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint. Daryl Ann Kyle's parents, the Hatch family, bought the land in 1950, and she and her husband Al settled here in 1974. The log cabins were handcrafted from timber cut on the property, and the family's first cabin from around 1978 is now the Bunkhouse rental.
Guests choose between farmhouse rooms, the stand-alone Bunkhouse, which sleeps seven and has its own kitchen, and seven RV sites. Granny's Woods and Spring share a private bath with a jetted tub and walk-in shower and are suitable for wheelchair use. The Forest Suite has a log king bed. Rooms are air conditioned. From October through April the Red Barn room switches to a continental breakfast while family uses part of the lower level.
Farmhouse guests get a full country breakfast: sourdough pancakes, cinnamon or orange rolls, bacon, ham or sausage, fruit smoothies, and eggs from the farm's hens when they are laying. Days are for roaming meadows, woods and the creek, visiting farm animals including baby goats, hiking and mountain biking, and, in winter, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding. A chiminea is set up for s'mores. Kids and well-mannered pets are welcome, and the farm hosts reunions and retreats.
Silverwood Theme Park is about five minutes away and Farragut State Park about ten. Lynn's Lavender in Sagle is roughly half an hour north on US-95, so a summer stay can take in the lavender and Lake Pend Oreille the same day.
