About Crystal Basin Cellars

Crystal Basin has been making wine in El Dorado County since 2000, and its home tasting room, Crystal Basin Cellars, is in Placerville on Cold Springs Road, a short drive from the orchards and farms of Apple Hill. The winery also runs a second tasting room, Crystal Basin Station, at 813 Sutter Street in historic downtown Folsom (916-673-9440), which is handy if you are coming up from Sacramento.

The Placerville room is open every day: Sunday through Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (2026). The Folsom room opens Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from noon to 5, and closes Tuesday and Wednesday. You can book a regular wine tasting or a barrel tasting at either location through their website.

Each tasting room keeps its own events calendar, and the winery also takes its wines on the road with a traveling program. Fees, food and pet rules are not posted on the main page, so check their website or call before you go.

Bluestone Meadow, an Apple Hill lavender and apple farm where you can cut your own lavender and walk a labyrinth during its summer season, is about 15 minutes east, which makes an easy summer pairing.
