About Five Shores Brewing

Five Shores Brewing pours its beer from a restored Quonset building on Benzie Boulevard in downtown Beulah, at the east end of Crystal Lake. The arched building is the brewery's centerpiece, and the taproom opened inside it on January 24, 2020. Co-founders Oliver Roberts, who runs the brewhouse, and Matt Demorest built the business after Oliver decided to bring his brewing career to northern Michigan; his earlier beers won medals at the Great American Beer Festival.

Beer is the main draw, with a rotating tap list posted on their website, and the bar also pours cider, mead, wine and spirits, including drinks on draft. A kitchen serves food until a half hour before the taproom closes, so it works as a dinner stop after a day on the lake.

In fall 2026 the taproom opened at 4 p.m. on weekdays and at noon on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Monday brings music trivia and Thursday live trivia, both from 6 to 8 p.m., and the brewery posts pop-up events and live music on its event calendar and social pages. Summer hours are announced each year, so check before a trip in June, July or August.

Cherry Hill Lavender Farm outside Frankfort is about 15 minutes west. Its fall 2026 garden visits were on Wednesday afternoons, which lines up well with an early dinner at Five Shores.
