About The Roadhouse Mexican Bar & Grill

The Roadhouse sits on US-31 at the top of the hill in Benzonia, close to Crystal Lake and about 12 miles from Crystal Mountain. It is a casual, family-friendly Mexican restaurant and bar that stays open all year, and summer is its busiest stretch.

Everything starts with the house salsa and chips, made fresh every day; the salsa is also sold to go in local stores. The kitchen makes its dishes in-house, and over the years enchiladas, fajita-style skillets and chile rellenos have been the favorites. There is a menu for kids under 12.

The bar is known for its homemade margaritas made with its own sour mix, a broad tequila list, sangria and local craft beer. In warm weather, seating opens in the backyard cantina, a patio with its own raised bar. Dinner service starts at 4 p.m. daily. The Roadhouse is first come, first served, with no reservations or call-ahead seating, and holiday or weather closures are posted on their social pages.

Cherry Hill Lavender Farm outside Frankfort is about 15 minutes west. In fall 2026 the farm opens Wednesday afternoons, so a lavender stop there and an early dinner here make an easy pairing.
