About Glenroy Cottages

Glenroy Cottages sits on a historic rural property above the Coxs River, a few minutes from Hartley village at the foot of the Blue Mountains and a little under two hours' drive from Sydney. The cottages are self-contained and individually styled, with log fires and views over the river and its pools.

The site has a long story. People have camped here since the first crossing of the Blue Mountains in 1813, Governor and Mrs. Macquarie camped on the Glenroy ground twice in 1815, and a military depot once stood by the river, the first west of the mountains. A monument marks the first church service held in the Blue Mountains, Glenroy Bridge dates from 1901, and the oldest graves on the property go back to 1832.

Days here are about the river: walks along the bank, swimming in the pools in warm weather, and watching for platypus, echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos and plenty of birds. There are four cottages (Homestead, Riverside, Kookaburra and a glamping option), with the Homestead and Riverside suited to couples and families, plus campsites open all year. Check-in is from 3 p.m. and check-out is at noon, and bookings are taken by phone.

Blue Mountains Lavender in Little Hartley is about 10 minutes away. It has said it is not opening to visitors for the 2026/27 season, so check their website before planning around it. Jenolan Caves, Katoomba and Mount Victoria are all within easy reach.
