About Gust Brothers Pumpkin Farm
Gust Brothers Pumpkin Farm sits on Mulberry Road in Ottawa Lake, just north of the Ohio line between Adrian and Toledo. It began in 1989 when Dan Gust and his four sons sold pumpkins from a quarter-acre patch; by 1995 the boys and their grandfather had built a small market, and the farm has kept growing since.
The pumpkin season runs from Labor Day to Halloween, and the farm is open every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Visitors pick pumpkins in the field, wander a corn maze, ride hay wagons on weekends when the weather allows, and cut flowers to build their own bouquets. The animal area holds cows and calves, sows with piglets, sheep, goats, chickens and a bunny barn, and feed cups are sold in the market barn.
The market barn stocks pumpkins in every size, squash, gourds, mums, corn shocks, straw bales and wreaths, plus Amish jams, apple butter, local honey and maple syrup. The donut barn makes donuts on the farm, glazed or rolled in cinnamon sugar, and sells cider slushies and pumpkin cookies, with seating under a lean-to and tent. School tours are by appointment. Pets are not allowed except trained service dogs, and there is no ATM on site, though cards are accepted.
