About Plainly Elegant Lavender Farm

Plainly Elegant Lavender Farm is a women-led family farm on Waters Road, about 15 minutes west of downtown Ann Arbor, reached by a final stretch of dirt road. The family planted their first lavender at the end of 2020 as a way to slow down after a hard year, learned as they went, and now have more than 800 plants in the ground, including Folgate, Big Time Blue and white French lavender.

U-pick runs in June and July, Thursday through Sunday, in timed sessions of about 45 to 60 minutes. A ticket covers time in the U-pick rows, sanitized scissors and harvesting supplies, one bundle measured forefinger to thumb, light guidance from staff, photos in the field and time at the pop-up farm stand. In 2026 adult tickets were listed at $18, youth tickets were discounted, children 5 and under were free, and extra bundles were $12. Sessions run rain or shine and can sell out during bloom.

The farm cleans its dried buds and distills lavender into oil and hydrosol for a handmade, vegan product line: roll-on oils, facial toner, a solid lotion balm stick, linen spray, sachet tins and dried bundles. Off the farm you can find them at the Dexter Farmer's Market on Saturdays from May to September and at the Sunday Artisan Market in Kerrytown on select Sundays from April 12 to December 20, 2026.

Tantré Farm on Scio Church Road, about 10 minutes away, has a summer U-pick field for strawberries and raspberries if you want to fill a second basket.
