About Lavender Barnyard

The Lavender Barnyard is a small lavender farm on 225th Street West in Eureka Township, in the rolling country of Dakota County near Farmington. It began with the idea of letting Minnesotans cut their own lavender without leaving the state, and its state farm-directory listing counts more than 250 lavender plants, now set among flower gardens. The farm also bills itself as the only lavender farm wedding venue in Minnesota that is open to the public.

Visits center on the summer bloom. You can cut your own lavender, walk the fields and gardens, and book group tours or private events. The 2026 calendar leaned on evening events. Picnic in the Lavender ran on Thursday evenings from mid-June through late July: an adults-only picnic buffet with dessert and non-alcoholic drinks, limited to six parties per seating, ending with lavender to pick and take home. Loops & Lavender gathered knitters and crocheters among the rows on select Wednesday evenings from June into early August, and a Backyard Gardener class in late June, July and August covered how the owner grows lavender in Minnesota. Yoga, classes and a book club also meet at the farm.

The farm store sells handcrafted lavender goods and gifts: culinary lavender buds, herbes de Provence, simple syrup and loose-leaf teas, lavender essential oil, lotion, whipped body butter, bath salts, soaps, lip balm, aromatherapy mists and rollers, sachets, dryer balls and lavender rice bags, plus local honey, apparel and quilt patterns from the owner's Lavender Lane Quilts. There is an online shop as well. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms, a quiet room and adult-size changing facilities are listed among the farm's amenities.

Applewood Orchard in Lakeville, about 15 minutes north, adds apple picking to a late-summer or fall day.
