About Oliver Winery
Oliver Winery started as a hobby in the 1960s and has been making wine north of Bloomington for about 50 years. Its Oliver Sweet Red is the top-selling wine in Indiana, and the Soft collection follows the same sweet style. For drier tastes, the Creekbend collection is estate grown and bottled in Bloomington, and the lineup also includes Camelot Mead, cider, Real Fruit Moscato and small experimental releases.
There are three ways to taste. A patio flight brings five wines to your table, weather permitting. A guided tasting of six wines at the tasting room bar needs no reservation, though weekends can have a wait. A reserved seated tasting of six wines runs on weekdays for parties up to 10 and is a good fit for first visits. From April through October, production tours run Friday through Sunday, with a discount for designated drivers chosen at booking.
The grounds are landscaped gardens with a lower patio and an open hillside. Reserved picnic packages for up to four run April through October, or you can bring your own food to the hillside picnic area; outside alcohol, grills and open flames are not allowed. Charcuterie is sold in the tasting room. Children are welcome on the grounds, leashed dogs may join you outdoors but not in the tasting room or covered patio, and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
White Diamond Lavender Farms near Hope is about an hour east through Columbus, so it pairs best on a long summer day.
