About Simmons Winery & 450 North Brewing Company
The Simmons family has farmed this ground north of Columbus since 1885. David and Brenda Simmons planted four acres of grapes in 1998, opened a farm market in 2000, and added 450 North Brewing Company in September 2012. Today the same property makes wine, beer and hard cider, and their twin sons help run the neighboring family farm.
Simmons Winery makes red, white and blush wines that run from dry to sweet dessert styles, using European vinifera, French-American hybrid and native American grapes. On the beer side, the brewery is best known for hazy IPAs and fruited Berliner weisse, and it has made a habit of putting out small specialty releases every couple of weeks on draft and in cans. Wine tastings and tours of the processing room are offered, and a farm market sells fresh produce through summer and fall.
The taproom restaurant serves a full food menu, so this works as a lunch or dinner stop rather than just a tasting. The banquet room handles large gatherings, and the farm's signature event is the Corn Maze Beer Fest, held again in 2026.
