About Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards

Lucas & Lewellen is a family-owned Santa Barbara County winery, run by Louis Lucas and Mike Lewellen since 1996. Lucas has deep roots in local grape growing: he planted commercial Pinot Noir vines in the area back in 1969. The winery pours from its estate vineyards, including Valley View Vineyard in Solvang, at a tasting room on Copenhagen Drive in the middle of the Danish-style town. Its sister label, Toccata, has its own tasting room across the street at 1650 Copenhagen Drive (805-686-5506).

The tasting room is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and you do not need a reservation. There are four flights to choose from: an Explorer's Flight of single varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon; a Reserve Reds flight of Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Bordeaux-style blends; a white flight of Viognier, rosé, Gewürztraminer and Chenin Blanc; and a Fun Wines flight of sparkling wine, Riesling, Moscato, late-harvest wine and port. Cheese plates and a chocolate tasting can be paired with your wine.

The winery also holds evening events at the tasting room, such as a blind tasting of Cabernet Sauvignon in October 2026, and lists them on the events page of their website.

Clairmont Farms, which has grown lavender in Los Olivos since 1998 and runs a farm shop, is about 10 minutes north on Alamo Pintado Road, so a lavender stop and a downtown Solvang tasting fit easily into one afternoon.
