About Young's Jersey Dairy
Young's Jersey Dairy is a working dairy farm about a mile north of Yellow Springs on Route 68. Its red barn dates to 1869. Hap Young bought the 60-acre farm after World War II and farmed it with his sons Carl, Bob and Bill, and in 1958 the family began selling Jersey milk straight to the public on the honor system. Homemade ice cream followed in 1983, and the farm has grown into a full day out.
There is no charge to come in or to park; you pay only for what you do. The Dairy Store serves meals and the farm's ice cream, with weekend breakfast, and the Farmstead Cheese Marketplace sells cheese made on the farm. Out back, the petting area and barn are open daily, with goats to feed from quarter dispensers, and you can watch the cows being milked in the late afternoon, usually starting around 4:30. Udders & Putters adds mini golf, batting cages, a driving range, a slide and Cowtherine's Carousel, a 36-foot carousel of cows that opened in July 2024 and is heated for year-round rides.
Fall is the busiest season. In 2026 the Fall Farm Festival runs September 19 through November 1, pick-your-own pumpkins with a wagon ride to the patch run daily September 19 to October 25, and haunted wagon rides with scary stories run Friday and Saturday nights through October 31. The farm also offers cheese and ice cream tours, group picnics and birthday parties.
Sunset Ridge Lavender Farm near Enon is only a few miles to the northwest, about 15 minutes away, which makes this a natural lunch or ice cream stop on a lavender day.
