About Attwoods Wines

Attwoods is the label Troy Walsh started in 2010 after about 12 years as a sommelier in London and several vintages in Burgundy. The Livingston family joined the business in 2018. The focus is cool-climate pinot noir and chardonnay made with minimal intervention and plenty of whole-bunch influence, from a close-planted 1.5-hectare vineyard at Scotsburn near Ballarat and 2 hectares the team manages at Glenlyon in the Macedon Ranges.

The cellar door, about 10 minutes from Daylesford, opens Friday 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday 12 to 4 p.m. Groups of eight or fewer can walk in to taste; groups of 8 to 20 should email ahead. For a deeper visit, the A$75 tasting experience includes a guided tour of the winery and its barrel room, which is normally closed to the public, plus a tutored tasting of rare museum wines over one to two hours.

Casual visitors can order from an all-day snack menu and take cheese or charcuterie boards to the terraced deck or the gardens, which overlook the vines and kitchen garden. The set lunch is a French-inspired menu that changes each month with produce from that garden and must be booked. In winter (June to August) there is a fire in the tasting room. Children are welcome, the tasting room and gardens are dog friendly, and the site is wheelchair accessible.

Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm is about 20 minutes west via Daylesford, which makes it easy to combine a lavender farm morning with lunch here.
