About Daylesford Cider Company
Daylesford Cider Company grows heritage cider apples on its certified organic orchard at Musk, a few minutes from Daylesford. The trees were grafted onto dwarf rootstock in 2003, and Clare and Jon Mackie took over the orchard, cider house and English-style tavern cellar door in 2015. Jon makes the cider from 100 percent fresh juice with no concentrate or added sugar, one harvest and one ferment a year, so each vintage tastes a little different. The range has grown from four ciders to more than a dozen, from Traditional Still and Vintage Dry to Brut, Scrumpy and Wild Oak, plus a non-alcoholic Sparkling Spiced Apple.
The cellar door is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for cider tasting paddles, drinks by the glass and bottles to take home.
The restaurant opens daily for lunch from 11:15 a.m. with a casual, shared menu built on regional ingredients: pizzas from the outdoor wood-fired oven, share plates, cheese and charcuterie boards and desserts. Tables can be booked on their website. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are family-friendly and pet-friendly. Special events appear through the year, including the one-night Cider + Smoke on Saturday, November 21, 2026.
Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm at Shepherds Flat is about 20 minutes north through Daylesford, so the orchard makes a good lunch stop on a lavender day.
