About Distillerie Cherry River
Cherry River grew out of a partnership between singer-songwriter Marc Dupré and his manager, Francis Delage. In 2018 the company bought a former Anglican church built in Magog in 1875 and set its first copper stills under the stone vaults. Production moved to a larger plant in 2023, but the neo-Gothic church, with its stained glass, remains the brand's home in Magog, with a boutique and a tasting bar under the nave. A second location opened in 2024 in Quebec City's Sillery district.
The range includes a London-style dry gin, a signature berry-and-basil gin, pink grapefruit, raspberry-lime and lime-ginger gins, a boreal gin, Averse vodka and a spiced rum. In 2026 the raspberry-lime gin and the spiced rum both took gold medals from the Beverage Testing Institute.
The one-hour guided tour covers the building's history and each step from raw ingredients to bottling. It costs from $20 per person plus tax, groups are capped at 20, and visitors under 18 get in free. Tours are given in French, with English on request when available. A mixology workshop, from $55 plus tax, has small groups make three cocktails. Because the distillery holds a tasting permit rather than a bar license, you get tastings and mini-cocktails, not full drinks. In summer a terrace looks toward Mont Orford.
Bleu Lavande's Magog site is a short drive away, so the distillery works well as an afternoon stop after the lavender fields.
