About La Ferme Potagère

La Ferme Potagère was started in 2001 on chemin d'Ayer's Cliff, just south of Magog. It grows more than 30 kinds of vegetables without chemical inputs and raises small groups of pigs, poultry and veal, along with laying hens that live in a converted trailer. The farm describes itself as a mix of farming, good food and the pleasure of having people over.

Picking follows the crops through the season. Haskap berries come first, in late June. Blueberries follow from mid-July to the end of August, then squash in September and October, and pumpkins in October. U-pick days are announced on the farm's social pages rather than fixed in advance, so check before you go. No reservation is needed to pick.

The farm stand is open year-round and goes well beyond vegetables: more than 15 kinds of sausages, cured and smoked meats, pâtés, eggs, prepared meals, and about 50 gourmet products made on the farm, plus special menus for holidays such as Christmas and Easter. The farm also holds Journées gourmandes, dinners on site cooked with a smoker and a pizza oven, with dates posted on their social pages. Cash and debit cards are accepted.

Bleu Lavande is about 10 minutes north in Magog. In July, a morning of blueberry picking here and an afternoon in the lavender fields make an easy day, with a stop at the stand for a ready-made picnic.
