About Au Vignoble d'Orford
Au Vignoble d'Orford is a vineyard on chemin Bice in Orford, in the Eastern Townships, where the wines are made from cold-hardy grapes grown on the property. The current list shows how varied that can be: a red from Frontenac and Sabrevois, a white blend of Louise Swenson, Adalmiina and Frontenac blanc, a Sabrevois rosé, a St-Pépin white, an orange wine from Vandal-Cliche and a fortified red.
The shop and tasting counter are open every day from 1 to 5 p.m. during the season, which the regional tourism office lists as May to October. A six-wine tasting costs $15 per person, taxes included, and needs no reservation. For more depth, the guided tour lasts about an hour, includes a walk through the vines and a guided tasting, and costs $30 per person, taxes included. Tours are given in French or English and should be booked ahead by phone or email.
There's a picnic area on the grounds, so you can bring lunch and enjoy the view of the vines. Bottles run from about $22 to $30.
