About Confiturerie Tigidou
Confiturerie Tigidou makes jams on the riverbank in Saint-Laurent-de-l'Île-d'Orléans, using local fruit and stirring the pots by hand. The jam maker behind it, Vincent Paris, built the business around island strawberries, wild herbs and an old barn by the water. The workshop is in a former boatbuilding shop whose large doors open onto the St. Lawrence.
The workshop and shop are open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and close to the public on November 2. Tasting is free and self-guided: you can try nearly the whole line at your own pace. Classic jams include an island strawberry, a strawberry-raspberry-blackberry trio, summer and fall raspberry and black blackberry, at $12.50 each, alongside finer jams, spreads, butter caramels and apple butters.
Next door, Café Tigidou serves the jams with fresh scones, coffee and herbal teas, and fruit slushies in summer, inside a former boat-drying shed. A few minutes away in Saint-Jean, the Maison de Thé serves teas from herbs grown on site in a heritage barn. It is open on summer weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; reservations are strongly recommended in July and August, and groups can book in spring and fall.
La Seigneurie de l'Île d'Orléans in Saint-François is about 15 minutes east. In mid-July, when its lavender fields open, a jam tasting and scone here fit neatly before or after.
