About OhBio – Ferme Jean-Pierre Plante
OhBio is the name of the Plante family farm on chemin Royal in Saint-Laurent-de-l'Île-d'Orléans, still known as Ferme Jean-Pierre Plante. The family has worked this land for four generations, since Ignace Plante bought the first parcel in the late 1800s. In 2014 Jean-Julien Plante and his wife Judith moved the farm to organic growing, and their organic strawberries became its signature crop.
In summer the farm opens its fields for pick-your-own organic strawberries and blueberries. No booking is needed: check in at the kiosk, where baskets are provided, and check the farm's daily update on their website before you drive out, since picking depends on the fruit. A minimum amount per picker applies, and visitors who come along without taking berries home pay an entry fee. Animals are not allowed in the fields. For 2026, u-pick had wrapped up by mid-August, with picked berries still sold at the kiosk.
The kiosk sits in an old stable the family restored, which won an island heritage award in 2022. It sells strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, organic vegetables and maple products, plus goods from like-minded local producers, and it bakes muffins with the farm's small fruit and serves coffee on a terrace overlooking the river.
La Seigneurie de l'Île d'Orléans in Saint-François is about 15 minutes east, so a morning of berry picking here pairs well with its mid-July lavender fields.
