About Hartley Farm Shop & Kitchen

Hartley Farm is a fifth-generation family farm in Winsley, on the hill above Bradford on Avon, run by the Bowles family, who farmed in the village at Church Farm and Parsonage Farm before Hartley. In 2026 the family marked fifty years at Hartley itself. The farm shop focuses on local, seasonal food: a butcher's counter, fruit and vegetables, local produce, hampers and gifts, plus home and garden goods.

The Farm Kitchen is the farm's sit-down café, and The Cabin offers takeaway food Tuesday through Sunday. Posted hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday for the shop; the kitchen serves food from 9am to 4pm on weekdays and Saturdays and 9am to 3pm on Sundays. Tables can be booked through their website.

Autumn and winter are the busiest times. In 2026, Harvest on the Farm, a family autumn day out, is on Saturday 24 October from 10am to 3pm, followed by Pumpkins in the Paddock daily from 25 to 31 October, 10am to 3pm. The Christmas Tree Forest of British-grown trees opens 21 November and runs to 13 December, and the farm hosts Christmas makers' markets on 27 and 28 November, including an evening market.

Somerset Lavender at Faulkland, south of Bath, is about 20 minutes away by country roads. In summer, lunch at the Farm Kitchen pairs well with an afternoon among the lavender fields there.
