About JM Cellars

JM Cellars was started in 1998 by John and Peggy Bigelow and still describes itself as a winery built around community as much as wine. It has two places to taste. The home estate, called Bramble Bump, is on 137th Place NE in Woodinville, with landscaped grounds, walking trails and a bocce court. Its tasting room is now for wine club members by reservation, with Saturday and Sunday seatings at noon and 2 p.m. and some Friday slots. The tasting room open to everyone is The Vault in Maltby, just north in Snohomish County.

The Vault is open Friday 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday 1 to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m., and reservations are encouraged; the winery prefers a text message for bookings and questions. The lineup includes red, white and rosé wines, from a Sauvignon Blanc to the Bramble Bump Red, sold in sizes from standard 750-milliliter bottles up to 3 liters. The winery holds Salmon-Safe and LIVE sustainability certifications.

There is usually something on the calendar. JM Cellars hosts sip-and-paint nights, holiday events and private events, and posts closures for weather or private bookings on its website, so check before you drive over. Wine club members get access to the Woodinville estate tastings and members-only weekends.

Woodinville Lavender, a lavender farm and garden used mainly for weddings and private events, is about 15 minutes south, closer to the Woodinville estate, if you are planning a celebration in the area.
