About Knightor Winery
Knightor Winery makes English wine and Cornish vermouth on an old farmstead at Trethurgy, above St Austell Bay and close to the Eden Project. Alongside still and sparkling wines it is known for its vermouths and aperitifs, which turn up in spritzes and cocktails at the cellar door bar. It is a working winery, so the ground is rough in places, with steps, uneven levels and thresholds.
The cellar door is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Inside those hours you can take a host-led guided tasting of four wines, which runs about 45 minutes and is listed at £16, or work through a self-guided flight of four wines or vermouths at your own pace for £11 (prices as listed October 2026). Cornish cheese plates are available to go with them. The longer Sunday winery tour, which follows the grapes from vine to bottle, is paused and listed as returning in 2027.
Groups of 10 to 12 or more can pre-book a 90-minute Cornish cocktail experience at £30 a head, which covers the history of aperitifs and vermouth, a tutored tasting of the four core vermouths, a spritz you build yourself and a bottle you wax by hand; mocktails are offered for drivers. The barn also hosts feast nights, Christmas events and weddings, listed on the winery's events calendar.
Cornish Lavender near Perranporth is about 35 to 40 minutes west, so a morning tasting here and an afternoon among the lavender works as a mid-Cornwall day out in summer.
