About Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm
Healeys is a family-run farm in the Cornish countryside at Penhallow, about 20 minutes from Newquay, that has been turning apples into food and drink for nearly 40 years. Its range runs well beyond cyder to wines, spirits, fruit juices, preserves and sauces, all made on the farm, and visitors can see much of the work up close.
The farm is open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day: 9am to 6pm from April to June and in September and October, 9am to 8pm in July and August, and 9am to 5pm from November to March. Self-guided tours take in the farm museum, the distillery and the cellars, and booking online brings a 10% discount. Pressing depends on the apple season, so if you want to see a particular part of the process, the farm suggests asking ahead and it will recommend a time. A full guided tour is also offered, and groups can arrange visits by phone at any time of year.
Tours include complimentary tastings, with ciders and wines for adults and fruit juices for children. Families can take a vintage tractor ride through the orchard and meet the farm animals, and the farm shop offers tutored tastings of the range.
Cornish Lavender near Perranporth is only about 10 minutes away, so a summer visit can combine the cider farm with a walk through the lavender.
