About Lamb & Lion Inn
Lamb & Lion Inn sits on four acres along Route 6A, the old King's Highway, in West Barnstable. The property grew out of a 1740 farmhouse, and its original 1740 barn still stands. The former horse stables have been turned into guest suites, one of them with a wood-burning fireplace, and the rooms open onto separate entrances around a central courtyard, so guests come and go privately.
The inn stays open all year. In warm months there is a seasonal pool and hot tub, and in the off-season the fireplace suite and quiet village setting are the draw. A beach where people gather for sunset and local walking trails are within walking distance, Barnstable Village's shops and waterfront restaurants are about two minutes away by car, and the ferry docks for Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are roughly 10 to 15 minutes off.
Dogs are a big part of the inn's identity. Guests can bring up to two dogs per room, dogs must be at least a year old and leashed on the grounds, and the inn takes only a few pets at a time, so it asks guests to check before booking. Pet sheets, towels and water bowls are provided, and the four acres give plenty of room for a morning walk. The inn can also help arrange a dog-friendly whale watch.
Cape Cod Lavender Farm in Harwich is about 30 minutes east by Route 6. Spend a morning on the farm's free trails and fields, then come back to the 6A villages for dinner.
