About The Barley Neck

The Barley Neck is a restaurant and tavern in the historic Captain's House at the fork of Beach Road and Pochet Road in East Orleans, about a mile and a half from Nauset Beach. The building sits in the middle of the fork, with a parking lot and entrance on each side, and the property includes several dining rooms and a lawn used for events.

Seafood leads the menu: Wellfleet oysters and local littlenecks on the half shell, smoked bluefish pâté, a broiled cod with a cornflake crust, local monkfish piccata, seafood casserole and beer-battered fish and chips, alongside burgers, braised short rib, flank steak and pizza (with a gluten-free crust available). In 2026 most entrees ran about $24 to $35. There is a kids menu, plus Tapas Tuesdays and a Buck a Shuck oyster special.

Dinner is served seven nights a week from 4:30 p.m., with the kitchen open until 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. In fall 2026 the calendar had live music most Friday and Saturday nights and trivia on Mondays, and summer brought tasting events on the lawn and First Fridays. Reservations are accepted, and private events and catering are available.

Cape Cod Lavender Farm in Harwich is about 20 minutes southwest. After a summer afternoon in the lavender, head to Nauset Beach for the evening and finish with oysters here.
