About Lavender Works Co.

Lavender Works Co. is a family farm on Newry Road near Brussels, in Huron County. The land has been in the husband's family for more than 40 years, and he is a third-generation farmer. The family of five started with a small test plot of lavender in the spring of 2019 and now grows about 2,000 plants in six varieties, without pesticides.

The farm opens for the season on May 1. Its posted hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shop sells fresh and dried lavender and small-batch body and home products made with lavender essential oil and no harsh chemicals, and the family takes custom gift orders.

Summer events bring people out to the rows. Paint and sip evenings, led by local artist Wanda Lee Coxon, run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in late June and early July and include watercolor supplies and an alcohol-free lavender drink. Sunset picnics in the lavender come with a charcuterie board, a mocktail and dessert. Yoga in the lavender runs on Saturday and Tuesday mornings and suits all levels. Photographers can book sessions in the field.

Drudge Family Farm, a maple syrup farm near Wroxeter, is about 15 minutes north for another farm stop in the area.
