About SeaLyon Farm

SeaLyon Farm is owned by Don Lyon, a service-disabled veteran, and his wife Marcia. Their 21 acres in Alna, just south of Head Tide in the Sheepscot River valley, are planted with naturally grown lavender, fruit and vegetables, including a lavender field of about 2,000 plants. Visitors can pick their own lavender in summer, and the farm hosts events for all ages through the seasons.

The most memorable way to arrive is by narrow-gauge train. The Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway runs themed trips from its Sheepscot station at 97 Cross Road to Top of Mountain station beside the farm, where a horse or tractor wagon carries riders the rest of the way. There are Lavender Pickin' trains in season, a Sunflower Special (September 5, 2026, which sold out) with sunflower picking, and Pumpkin Pickin' trains in October. A round trip runs a little over three hours with about 90 minutes at the farm; 2026 fares were $29.75 for adults and $19.75 for ages 4 to 15, with children 3 and under free.

During farm events there are horse-drawn wagon tours, goats to visit, a bonfire with s'mores, lawn games and walks around the pond, plus food from local vendors. The SeaLyon Farm Store sells lavender products, hand-poured candles, tea made from flowers grown on the farm, fruit jams and salsas. Their goods are also featured at the Maine Tasting Center in Wiscasset.

Marston House in Wiscasset is about 12 minutes south on Route 218.
