About LimeRock Inn
LimeRock Inn is a Victorian house on a quiet street in the Rockland Residential Historic District, a few blocks from the museums, galleries, shops and restaurants of Main Street. Gardiner architect Edwin E. Lewis designed it for Charles Littlefield, then Maine's attorney general, and it was finished in 1892; the east bay windows and the turret were added later. In 1994 the house was renovated and opened as Rockland's first bed and breakfast.
The eight guest rooms are named for Maine coastal islands, from Monhegan and Vinalhaven to Seguin and Petit Manan, and each has its own bath. Guests share a living room with a fireplace, a small library, a game table and a 1926 Victrola with a stack of 78s, plus a wood-paneled dining room. Outside there is a wraparound porch, a pagoda-style gazebo and about an acre of informal English gardens.
Breakfast is included and served daily, with seating from 8 to 9 a.m.; dishes on the inn's list include eggs Benedict, buttermilk pancakes, huevos rancheros and shakshouka. A guest pantry is open around the clock, and there is a small gift shop. Pets are not allowed, but the inn can refer you to a local pet-watching service. From here it is a short drive to Camden, Owls Head and Port Clyde, or a walk to the breakwater lighthouse.
