About Granite Inn

The Granite Inn is an 1840 granite house on Main Street in Rockland that overlooks Rockland Harbor. The stone building has had several lives, from a private home to an Elks lodge to the inn it is now, and it is within walking distance of the city's museums, galleries, shops and restaurants and of the berths where the historic schooners tie up.

There are eight guest rooms, two of them two-room suites, and every room has a private bath and air conditioning. The rooms mix original art and antiques with mid-century modern pieces and cottage touches. The inn publishes rates for every part of the year: high season from June 16 to October 15, shoulder seasons from mid-April to mid-June and mid-October to mid-December, and a quiet season from December 16 to April 15.

Breakfast is a hot entrée made from scratch, served in the dining room with fruit, baked goods and coffee or tea; the inn names savory quiches, crème brûlée French toast and pancakes with Maine maple syrup among its dishes, and coffee and tea are out an hour before breakfast. Dogs can stay in designated pet-friendly rooms, one dog per room, for a $50 fee per stay, and service animals are welcome with no fee. Each room has one parking space.

Glendarragh Farm Lavender in Appleton is about 30 minutes inland, and the farm's year-round shop on Main Street in Camden is about 15 minutes north.
