About Spring Green General Store

Spring Green General Store is two businesses under one roof on Albany Street in the village of Spring Green: a café that cooks comfort food with a creative twist, and a shop of clothing, puzzles, cards, jewelry, local soaps and gifts. Owner Karin Dittmar Miller has run it since 1993. In 2026 she announced she is looking for a buyer who will carry on the store's history, and she plans to keep running it until a new owner takes over.

The café serves lunch Tuesday through Sunday and breakfast on weekend mornings from 8 to noon. Weekend specials have included seasonal pancakes such as wild blueberry or peach with toasted pecans, and scrambles like the Farmer's Scramble. The kitchen closes at 2 pm and the store at 3 pm, so plan for a morning or midday stop.

Music is a big part of the store's calendar. BobFest, an all-day outdoor festival of Bob Dylan songs played by local groups, takes place over Memorial Day weekend, BeatleFest fills Labor Day with Beatles music, and monthly bluegrass and acoustic jams run on weekend afternoons. BobFest has no cover charge; the store asks that you buy food and drinks. The store calls itself kid and family friendly, and dogs are welcome on the front porch, where water is set out.

The Lavender Experiment, a family farm near Richland Center that is turning former tree-farm land into lavender, is about 35 minutes northwest on US 14. It publishes no visitor hours, so check its website before planning a stop.
