About Five SeaSuns Bed and Breakfast

Five SeaSuns Bed and Breakfast fills a Dutch Colonial house in Port Angeles that attorney Thomas Trumbull built in the late 1920s, just before the Great Depression, with open stairways and lots of windows. Trumbull, who came to the Olympic Peninsula for timber and railroad work and later became a circuit judge, reportedly found it too showy for his position. The Smith family, who ran a soda pop factory and an ice plant, owned it from the mid-1940s until 1994. Bob and Jan Harbick then restored it, filled it with period antiques and opened it as a B&B in 1996. Caroline Proulx has owned and run the inn since 2016.

There are five rooms named for the seasons: the Spring, Summer and Autumn rooms, the Winter Suite and the Indian Summer Carriage Suite. Depending on the room, you may get a fireplace, a jetted or deep soaking tub, a private patio or balcony, and views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca or Hurricane Ridge. Outside there are gardens and a patio with a pergola.

Breakfast is a full, included meal with fresh fruit, juice, coffee or tea, egg dishes, a choice of breakfast meat or vegan sausage, and pastries Caroline bakes herself, such as almond croissants; ask ahead about dietary needs. The inn sits in town, about 10 blocks from the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia, near downtown restaurants and minutes from the road up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park.

B&B Family Farm in Sequim, a certified organic lavender farm with free guided tours, distillation demonstrations and a farm store, is about 25 minutes east, making the inn a comfortable base for a summer lavender day.
