About B&B Family Farm
B&B Family Lavender Farm is a three-generation family farm on the Old Olympic Highway in Sequim. It covers 12 acres with roughly 14,000 lavender plants in 16 varieties, is USDA certified organic, and calls itself the largest organic lavender farm in Sequim. Flowers are dried and processed in a barn that is about 100 years old.
The farm is open every day from May through September, 9 AM to 5 PM. Walking the fields, taking photos and visiting the store cost nothing, and free educational tours start about every 30 minutes, covering how the lavender is grown, harvested, distilled and made into products. You may also catch a live distillation. English lavender begins blooming in mid-June and the French types finish in late July, so peak color runs from late June through July. U-cut lavender is offered while the plants are in bloom, depending on weather and field conditions.
In the farm store look for dried bunches, small-batch essential oils, candles, sachets, lip balm, mala beads and gift boxes. Leashed dogs are welcome as long as owners clean up after them and keep them out of the rows.
The Sequim Lavender Festival falls on the third weekend of July and the farm warns it gets very busy then. For a quieter visit, come in late June or early July. Downtown Sequim is a short drive east for lunch, and the farm suggests that even a visit outside bloom shows the drying and processing work in the barn.
