About Purple Haze Lavender
Purple Haze Lavender began in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley in 1996 with just 19 lavender plants. After more than 20 years the founder retired, and new owners took over in March 2021. Jose Franco and his family stayed with the farm; Jose laid out many of the rows and his crew still keeps the grounds. The farm was certified organic for many years, and while it no longer holds the certification, the owners say they still follow organic standards. Grosso lavender grows here, with helichrysum planted between some rows for color.
The farm store is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Bloom usually starts in late May or June and peaks in July, and Grosso can hold color into mid-August. U-pick typically runs from late June or early July into early August, though the farm notes that a late year can delay it. A drink and ice cream stand runs from mid-June through Labor Day, serving lavender ice cream, lavender lemonade and a dairy-free orange and coconut drink with lavender syrup.
The store carries the farm's lavender goods plus small-batch items from Olympic Peninsula makers: bath and body products, dried lavender, culinary lavender, home goods and gift sets. During the Sequim Lavender Festival weekend in July the farm adds live music; in 2024 festival-weekend admission was $10 per person per day, with kids 14 and under free. Leashed dogs are welcome if you pick up after them. Guided tours are not usually offered.
